Study: White sugar sales up since 2009 while Splenda, Sweet'N Low sales decrease A report from the market research firm IRI says sales of white, granulated sugar are up 15 percent since 2009. Last year, Americans spent nearly $1.7 billion. The increase in white sugar sales comes as Americans shy away from artificial sweeteners. Sales of Splenda are down 40 percent since 2009, the study said, and Sweet'N Low purchases are off 16 percent.
