I have to ecco what a lot of people are saying here. I have minor liver damage that doesn't effect me generally. My liver functions are normal. On the occasions that I have had a lot of Splenda....say like in a cake. I get bowel changes, my stool gets lighter (a very bad liver sign) fatique, headache. Which goes away when I stop ingesting the stuff. But it takes about a week. For those who doubt the science,THERE ARE STUDIES that show liver and kidney enlargement. This doesn't happen unless the organs are responding to an assult and possibally being damaged. Your liver can heal itself, but your kidney do not, enough damage and you die. No studies have been done on the long term effect on the brain. But the FDA says its ok to ingest. Chemical companys that create their research data are always suspect in my book. It's all about money. Get the chemicals out of all our food.

Splenda does not contain Chlorine molcules. In all molecules, the change of any one atom changes the chemical action of the molecule. Even the mirror image of a molecule acts differently. Ask a Chemist. As a Chloride it is in all salt, and is required by the body for good health. Ask a Doctor..

I have been using Splenda for over 2 years now, with no effect on my health. Because of warnings on the web I looked into hospitalization data of Splenda patients and could find nothing. I looked for death rates of Splenda users and again could find nothing. But I did find studies of waste water; it has (relatively) a lot of splenda in ppm because it goes through your body with no chemical reaction and remains unchanged. Unlike Aspartamine and other artificial sweeteners in soda drinks, Splenda is considered safe for pregnant women. However, like other cases with diet change or unknown pathogens, symptoms of illness are often attributed to food items without medical verification. I am watching to see if actual evidence of Splenda as a cause of illness is reported by Medical Journals. There is strong commercial conflict over competing sugar sustitutes.

I have been using regular Splenda and Fiber Splenda for several years now. I usually use two packets in my coffee, (3 cups a day) in my tea, and also use it for cereal or anything else I eat that needs sweetening..I like sweet. I too thought that because it was made with sugar, according to the ads, that it was a safe sweetner but after reading all of the negative comments, I am inclined not to use it any more. I am 61 yrs old, 140 lbs. and one thing I notice with my routine blood tests for cholesterol is that my sugar levels are up above normal range. My family has no history of type 2 diabetes and I am not overweight.....the only sweetner I use is Splenda. I have to question if this has affected my glucose levels. Has anyone else had that problem? I also have had problems with bloating and gas...again going to stop using it altogether and see if these symptoms go away.

I started eating "NO SUGAR ADDED" ice cream with in January ( DID NOT KNOW IT HAD SPLENDA IN IT) not long after having the flu. Then it seemed that the flu symtoms kept coming back. Went to the doctor in March and he gave me an antibiotic after I tols him what all the sytoms were about and how they kept coming back. He said I had a viris in my intenstios from the January flu that I had. Then I seemed to do better. Then every once in awhile the flu symptoms came back diarrea, bloating and just feeling like "hell". I've been to the docotr 4 times, and went back to the doctor last week after feeling real bad again with the bloating, diarrea and hellish feeling....he said I had IBS. Had a bowl of no sugar ice cream Sunday night, and Monday...the all "Hell" broke losse again. looked at what I've been eating over the past six months and noticed the Splenda logo on the ice cream box, and noticed in the small print "can cause laxative effect" . Went on line and googled Splenda...and WOW that's what has been playing hell with me for six months now. Going back to the doctor today to show him what all this has been about. Today I feel fine..not IBS!!!! This will help him in the future...I'm sure when other people have the same issues! This product should be banned form any foods!!!!!!

I began using Splenda about two years ago and found myself using it more and more. Last week I was eating out with my daughter and she was stunned to see that I put 8 envelopes into one capuccino. I put 5 or 6 tablespoons on my oatmeal in the morning. For around two years I have been experiencing constant dizziness whenever I change directions, or stand up and four months ago I began having brief "seizures" (one per month and always while driving!). Just today I began looking at reputable information on the Internet and have found that both dizziness and seizures are amongst the very numerous reported side effects of using Splenda. I just threw out my box of Splenda. I'm still going to have a brain scan next week, but I suspect that Splenda is the culprit.

I have only used Sucralose on one occasion and within half an hour experienced uncontrollable explosive diarrhoea. As Ididn't feel unwell or sick with this experience I deduced I could not be ill or have a bug and then thought about the dessert I had made using Sucralose. I 'googled' Splenda and was horrified to read all the scarey reports. How does this stuff remain on the market? If it were a drug causing all these problems it would never obtain a licence.

I have been using Splenda like 4 years now, I became celiac like a year ago, and have several kidney pains, I have to go to bathroom a lot! I even thought that I was eating too much proteins and my kidneys were irritated by the acid, I swicht to vegan, and now I understand that if you really want to be healthy you have to stop eating artifitial sweetners, I tried Stevia but get me so anxious that I ate a lot, it didn´t work for me.

Please please tell me if anyone has had these medical problems...I use splenda everyday, alot of the stuff, in fact familyy jokes because I have have my big container of my own splenda everywhere I go!
Sudden onset of angiedema(swelling) ER x3 times, now carry an epi-pen so my throat won't close.
Muscle/joint pain so bad, especially when I wake up and try to walk around, I am 50 and feel 80..it takes me awhile to get going due to additional fatique.
Red veins on my nose with pain inside nostril, no visable problem there..painful sores in my mouth that take forever to heal, and every morning, my lower face, mouth, lips, swollen!
I have been to allergy specialists, nothing, a dental pathologist, no cancer thank God!
I even though Gluten was the problem...
Spelnda I have been using for a long time, but really increased use over the past year with all these problems started to happen....good it be??
I have stopped right now, but hope to hear from someone!!

I had a severe bout of diarrhea in September which continued every day through January, 2011. Originally I thought it was a virus or food poisoning or IBS. But this was totally different and did not respond to the usual foods that stop diarrhea and when the diarrhea did not go away after a few months, I went to the Gastroenterologist and took a battery of tests which were all negative and started keeping a food diary - eliminating almost anything that I thought was giving me any adverse reactions.

But then, out of the blue I started to realize that I felt worse after drinking decafinated tea which had Splenda added to it. I decided to stop using the Splenda for a few days and started to see some improvement. I then gave my 1000 unit box to my husband who tried using it. After two days, he had severe diarrhea - so we threw out the box of Splenda. Now after being off Splenda for about 3 weeks, my diarrhea has completely stopped. Never would I have thought it could have been the Splenda causing this.
